Jewellery Care & Safety

Proper care can help preserve the appearance and function of your jewellery.

General Care

Handle jewellery gently and avoid bending, twisting, pulling or forcing components.

Do not use pliers, tools or excessive pressure when opening, closing, fitting or removing jewellery.

Remove jewellery before activities that may cause impact, crushing or snagging.

Store jewellery separately in a clean, dry place to reduce scratching, tangling and damage.

Water, Chemicals and Cosmetics

Avoid prolonged contact with:

  • water and moisture;
  • perfume;
  • hairspray;
  • creams and cosmetics;
  • cleaning products;
  • chlorine;
  • salt water;
  • strong chemicals.

Apply perfume, hairspray and cosmetics before putting jewellery on.

Dry jewellery carefully if it becomes wet.

Cleaning

Use a soft, clean and dry cloth for routine cleaning.

Do not use abrasive materials, harsh chemicals or unsuitable jewellery-cleaning products.

Cleaning methods suitable for one material may damage another material. Always check the material stated in the product description.

Pierced Earrings and Body Jewellery

Wash your hands before handling pierced jewellery.

Do not force jewellery into a piercing.

Jewellery should only be used in a suitable and appropriately healed piercing.

Seek advice from a qualified piercer or medical professional if you experience unexpected pain, swelling, bleeding, irritation or signs of infection.

Toku LONDON does not provide medical, allergy or professional piercing advice.

Allergies and Sensitivities

Materials vary between products and are stated in the product description.

Customers with known allergies or sensitivities should check the material carefully before ordering and use.

A material commonly described as suitable for many people cannot be guaranteed to be suitable for every individual.

Stop using the item if an unexpected reaction occurs.

Fastenings and Small Components

Check fastenings and threaded components regularly.

Do not over-tighten screw fittings, as excessive force may damage the thread or component.

Small jewellery parts can present a choking hazard.

Keep jewellery away from babies, young children, pets and anyone unable to use it safely.

Children’s jewellery must be selected, fitted and supervised by a responsible adult.

Normal Wear and Tear

Plating, surface finish and appearance may change over time depending on:

  • frequency of use;
  • skin chemistry;
  • moisture;
  • cosmetics;
  • chemicals;
  • storage;
  • handling;
  • friction.

Ordinary wear and tear is not normally considered a manufacturing fault.

Damage Caused After Delivery

Damage caused by bending, twisting, pulling, forcing, over-tightening, incorrect fitting or removal, use of tools, impact, crushing, alteration, attempted repair, chemicals or unsuitable cleaning is not normally considered a manufacturing fault unless the evidence shows an underlying product defect.
